Maddalena & WAMI for Tenghori

Magdalene wants to foster water efficiency by reducing waste, turning efficiency into the driver of growth for investment, and the basis of sustainable development. For these reasons, Maddalena chose WAMI: because they believe that everyday actions can have extraordinary results.

How does the water project work?

A water network is built, doing an in-depth excavation. The water is taken from an underground aquifer which is already drinkable because it has been purified over the centuries. From there starts a network of pipes that arrives in the nearby villages. From this network you get to the tap. There is a counter because all families pay a monthly fee, like a bill (500 francs a month = 50 cents €, very low). It serves to empower users: it avoids waste and finances maintenance. The maintenance of the aqueduct is managed by the inhabitants of the village, generally 5-6 people.
