Maddalena wants to foster water efficiency by reducing waste, turning efficiency into the driver of growth for investment, and the basis of sustainable development. For these reasons, Maddalena chose WAMI: because they believe that everyday actions can have extraordinary results.
How does the water project work?
A water network is built, doing an in-depth excavation. The water is taken from an underground aquifer which is already drinkable because it has been purified over the centuries. From there starts a network of pipes that arrives in the nearby villages. From this network you get to the tap. There is a counter because all families pay a monthly fee, like a bill (500 francs a month = 50 cents €, very low). It serves to empower users: it avoids waste and finances maintenance. The maintenance of the aqueduct is managed by the inhabitants of the village, generally 5-6 people.
