The Project
District VI of Tenghori is a village located in Lower Casamance, Senegal. It is a rural community, where glass paintings (souwere) is the most popular handicraft. It requires a lot of skill as it involves painting upside down on a glass plate. The mixing of colors and the manipulation of the brushes are the result of a long apprenticeship. Scenes from everyday life and national historical heroes are the most represented motifs.
