First of all: why water?

Did you know that 700 million people still don't have direct access to clean water? Most of them live in rural and isolated areas and spend many hours of their day to recover this precious resource. The lack of drinking water not only endangers people's health, but is also an obstacle for children's education. In fact usually are women and children that have to get water from wells far away from their village, preventing children from going to school. The lack of adequate education is the first obstacle to poverty reduction, for this reason investments in drinking water, hygiene and health have a high economic and social return on developing communities.

Our project in Sri Lanka

Moncler contribuited to Norwood's water project, located in one of the poorest areas of Sri Lanka, where approximately 86% of families do not have access to clean water. This project together with WAMI contributes to the achievement of some fundamental SDGs of the UN 2030 Agenda: making drinking water accessible to all brings not only hydration, but also better hygiene conditions. It is also a step towards improving gender equality and quality education, allowing girls to go to school and woman to train professionally. Finally, it is essential for the fight against climate change, because direct access to water reduces the CO2 emissions necessary to boil the water to make it drinkable.
